It is here where the young, naive lawyer experiences firsthand harsh prejudice and hatred, including being thrown off a train and beaten with a lead pipe; this is where he serves the British as an ambulance stretcher carrier in the Zulu War of 1906 and, coming face-to-face with the brutality of war, undergoes a spiritual epiphany that sets the course for his entire life. Viewers will get a deep, discerning look into the Mahatma’s spiritual ideals as he practices and teaches them in his first revolutionary ashrams.
